Malton Montessori School and Nursery has gained accreditation under a scheme to ensure its provision is of a high quality.

The Montessori Evaluation and Accreditation (MEAB) scheme offers support and guidance to Montessori schools including two visits by assessors. It also seeks to reassure parents that their Montessori school meets all the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Building on the success of the MEAB scheme since it began in the summer term of 2008, a further four schools have been accredited in the autumn term of 2011, including Malton Montessori School.

Anja Rutter, head of the school, said: “We are delighted to receive recognition for all the hard work the staff and children have put in to achieve the award.

Montessori accreditation is the true bench mark for all Montessori Schools in the UK and we are overjoyed to join the 180 schools who have already gained the award under the auspice of the Montessori Schools Association.

Malton Montessori School, which has 76 children, aged up to five, has already received its accreditation certificate and MEAB logo on the website.

Staff were awarded a plaque to further celebrate their success along with the other accredited schools at an awards ceremony last Friday at the Institute of Education in London.
