One Night Only, the Helmsley-based band who have become one of the biggest names in the pop music world in recent years, launched their latest single, Say You Don’t Want It, and second album, One Night Only, at their local, The Royal Oak in the town’s Market Place, last night.

“We’re all absolutely delighted,” said Royal Oak manageress Caroline Plowman. “The lads still come in the pub as they have done ever since they were 18. It’s great that they are coming here because it’s obviously a big occasion for them.”

One Night Only, who formed in 2003, released their 100,000 selling debut album Started a Fire in 2008, which held the No 1 spot in the indie charts for five weeks.

The band members – George Craig, Jack Sails, Mark Hayton, Daniel Parkin and James Craig – are all good friends of landlord Craig Newton and his family, as well as with other regulars at The Royal Oak. But last night was the first time they had returned to play at the pub since they hit the big time, said Caroline.

Lead singer, George Craig, said: “We all still live in Helmsley. It keeps us grounded and playing the old songs while seeing how the new ones are going down, has kept that One Night Only feel in the back of our mind.”
