A CONCERT at Suddaby’s in Malton is the latest fundraising event to be organised for the Gazette & Herald’s Pulse Appeal.

Local musican Martin Gough will be performing his One Man Rock Show on Friday, August 27 from 8pm. The evening will also include a raffle and disco.

Martin, who is also a nurse, was one of the passers-by who came to the assistance of Geoffrey Heward, who sadly died after collapsing in the street last month.

That tragic event prompted the launch of the Gazette & Herald’s Pulse Appeal.

Martin said that two people were already administering first aid when he arrived on the scene with his son.

“I took my turn to carry out CPR until the ambulance came and also helped the crew when they arrived,” he said.

“I knew Mr Heward as he used to go into Suddaby’s and was always telling jokes.”

Martin added that he and two friends, Sue Shields and Jeanette Oxtoby, had seen the Gazette’s appeal and decided to organise an event to raise money.

“I will also be selling copies of my CD on the night with all proceeds donated to the campaign and Suddaby’s are giving their room for free,” Martin said.

“I’m looking forward to the concert and hope we have a good turnout to raise as much as possible for the appeal.”

Tickets are priced £4, available from Suddaby’s, Sue or Jeanette on 01653 691176 or the Gazette in Yorkersgate, Malton.
