WEBSITE entrepreneur Paul Taylor, who runs Pickering-based website hosting and design agency Web Site Made Easy, has launched a new web hosting business which offsets the carbon footprint of business’ websites.
Paul has set up the business with Andy Rouph, who will run the new enterprise, about three months ago.
Andy has spent six years at college doing computer-based web design and Paul has about 12 years experience in the business.
Carbon Neutral Hosting uses Harrogate-based charity United Bank of Carbon (UBoC), which also works with Bettys & Taylors to offset their carbon footprint. UBoC co-ordinates various projects for businesses to help save the rainforests.
Andy said: “It is something that’s very relevant these days and we had the idea and decided to run with it. You’ve got to host your website somewhere so you might as well do it in a carbon neutral way.”
Andy and Paul also work from their homes in Pickering and use energy providers which use renewable energy to keep their carbon footprint low.
“We offset our carbon dioxide to enable us to become carbon neutral and are in the process of adding to our website schemes which our customers can donate to, such as tree plantation,” he said.
