Leeper Hare York and District League

Championship contenders Malton Bacon Factory had their title hopes badly dented at lowly Bishopthorpe, going down 2-1 in what was only their second league defeat of the season.

Factory were missing a couple of regulars and lost leading goalscorer Nigel Allen early on, but Bishopthorpe were worthy winners. The visitors conceded an own goal after half an hour of the first half half, in which the home side hit the cross bar twice. Carl Young made it 2-0 ten minutes into the second half and, although Nicky Drew found the net for Factory 20 minutes from time, the Bishops held on until the final whistle. Factory manager Wayne Read admitted it was his side's worst performance of the season.

Old Malton took the lead twice at Dunnington but the home side fought back to snatch a 4-2 win in the last 15 minutes. The visitors took the lead after a good strike into the bottom corner from Phil Hill. Dunnington equalised before half-time with a free-kick. Paul Boyes gave Old Malton the lead again after a mistake by the keeper but Dunnington hit back again. With 15 minutes to go, Dunnington grabbed a third from a corner and, as Old Malton pressed for an equaliser, the home side sealed the win with a goal on the break in the dying stages.

Heworth switched their division three game to Sheriff Hutton and were rewarded with only their second league win of the season in a remarkable 6-0 win; Mike Pybus (2), Tom Quinn (2), Jamie Allerton and Dean Smallwood scoring the goals. Norton and Hemingbrough shared six goals with Norton's goals coming from John Dutton, Dean Reedman and Stuart Ellis. Craig Welford and Danny Smith responded for Hemingbrough.

In reserve division A, two goals from Nick Ives won the game for Malton Bacon Factory reserves as they entertained South Bank.
