THE children of Leavening School, near Malton, will be providing the birds in their back gardens with a home.
Wildlife artist Robert Fuller, of Thixendale, donated 40 nest boxes to the pupils as part of National Nest Box Week.
Every family with a child attending the school was able to take home a bird box, and Mr Fuller also donated four to the school.
The artist hopes these bird boxes will boost bird populations in the area.
He said: “I think if you foster a love of wildlife in children then they will learn to cherish the wealth of wildlife that we have here in Yorkshire.”
National Nest Box Week runs from until February 21 and is organised by the British Trust for Ornithology.
