ALL the ingredients are in place for Malton’s first Food Lovers Festival.

A full programme of culinary action is planned for the Food Lover’s Cookery Theatre where chefs and cooks will be sharing their tips and demonstrating their own recipes.

These include Andrew Pern, of The Star at Harome who will give the festival some Michelin star finesse. Hosted by the well-known cookery writer Elaine Lemm, visitors can look forward to some mouth-watering ideas on show from 10am-4pm in the marquee.

In addition, all the food shops in the town will be preparing special festival treats and the many places to eat and drink will have special dishes on the menu.

The farmers’ market in the Market Place will be one of the biggest yet with nearly 30 stalls selling fresh local produce. In addition there is a children’s fancy dress competition and a cutest dog contest.

The festival is on Saturday, May 30, is free to visit, with £1.50 all-day car parking.

St Michael’s Church is joining in the fun with a table-top sale from 9am-noon.

Home-made cakes, pastries, puddings, pies and jams will be on sale, along with craft items and toiletries.

Coffee will be served inside church, which will be decorated in red and white, with floral arrangements inside the church, to celebrate Whitsuntide.
