CHILDREN’S home carer Amy Dennis is set to hit the high ground in a bid to raise money for a top cancer charity.
For Amy, 25, is to reach heights of 4,200 metres on a trek in Peru on the historic Inca trail next summer to support Macmillan Cancer Care.
But first she has to raise £3,300 to fund her bid and is now planning a string of events.
Already she has run cake stalls and on Saturday, October 25 is holding a big auction of promises at Hutton-le-Hole Village Hall where 30-plus items will come under the auctioneer’s hammer.
Also planned is a quiz night, a street collection in Pickering during the town’s war weekend and a talk to Rotarians to help her to reach her target.
Amy, of Kirkbymoorside, is no stranger to tough challenges, having achieved her Duke of Edinburgh gold award, and she says she enjoys any outdoor adventures.
Now caring for teenagers in a local authority home at Scarborough, she is to walk the trail between May 30 and June 7 next year to help Macmillan Cancer Care.
“Almost everyone has had a relative or friend who has been affected by cancer and Macmillan has such a wonderful reputation in caring for patients that I just wanted to help,” said Amy.
Anyone wanting to assist Amy is asked to contact her on 01751 430146 or 07752 171612. Donations can also be made on www.justgiving.com/amydennis
