A LORRY driver was assaulted after a row at the Pickering Steam Traction Rally over the weekend.

The 68-year-old victim, who lives near Beverley, told police he was punched in the face and violently kicked in the ribs at 5.30pm on Sunday at the showground.

He said he was waiting in a queue of traffic when he left his lorry to get some fresh air.

He claimed that when he returned the enraged driver of the truck behind launched an attack on the pensioner, who was later taken to Malton Hospital for medical checks.

Officers arrested a man from Howden in West Yorkshire and he has been released on bail to report back to Scarborough Police station on August 20.
