A MAN is fighting for his life after a vicious street attack in Norton at the weekend.
The victim, who has not been named, was left with severe head injuries near the forecourt of Total petrol station on Church Street just after midnight on Saturday night.
Police said the man is “extremely critical” condition in hospital and are trawling through CCTV footage.
Just a fortnight ago, two people were stabbed on Castlegate in Malton only a few hundred yards from the scene of the latest violence in towns.
Yesterday (Sunday) the area was cordoned off while forensic teams combed the crime scene.
Detective Sergeant Ian Fieldsend, who is leading the investigation, said the victim was believed to be middle aged.
