MITCH HANCOX and Zanda Siziba were on the scoresheet as a youthful York City side exited the North Riding Senior Cup to Guisborough Town.

Northern Football League division one outfit Guisborough claimed a 3-2 victory to reach the next round of the North Riding Senior Cup, with York being led by under-19's manager Tim Ryan.

Maison Campbell, Hancox and Siziba all featured, whilst Thierry Latty-Fairweather picked up important minutes on his return from injury.

Scott Barrow was also handed his first start since suffering an injury in the 2021/22 National League North play-off final 17 months ago.

Six of Ryan's under-19's players also started the fixture, with Ben Tate, Roan Shirley, Leon Gibson-Booth, Bill Marshall, Alex Payne and Charlie Lumsden all in the squad.

Campbell was tested early into the action, firstly being tested into a save from distance which was parried away, before making a quick-reaction save to deny a header from close-range.

City got on the front foot for a short spell shortly after as Latty-Fairweather was denied from a tight angle, before captain for the evening Hancox attempted to lob the goalkeeper only to his effort easily dealt with by Robert Dean between the Guisborough sticks.

It was Guisborough who would strike first, taking the lead in the 37th minute with a tap-in at the far post through Sonny Coleman after a low cross caused issues for the City backline.

Heading into the second half, York drew the match level with Hancox tapping home from close-range after a teasing cross from Siziba on the right-hand side.

Both sides were pushing for the lead, with Guisborough coming close but Campbell was again called into action as he got down low to parry away a low shot from a tight angle.

Guisborough retook the lead in the 64th minute as substitute Ben Cummins pounced on a loose ball to score from close range, putting the hosts back ahead.

But that lead didn’t last long, with Siziba pulling the Minstermen level again.

After latching onto a poor clearance from Dean, Siziba took aim from distance and saw his strike nestle into the back of the net.

As the game looked like it was going to head to penalties, the hosts went 3-2 ahead with only four minutes remaining.

Defender Alex Nelson headed home from close range at the back post after a delivery into the area from the right.

City had one final chance to pull a way back into the game, but with the final chance of the game, Siziba drilled an effort narrowly over the bar from the tightest of angles.
