A BURGLAR was confronted by a homeowner in York.
North Yorkshire Police were called at 12.15pm on Wednesday, August 15, after the owner of a property in Station Road, Upper Poppleton, reported an attempted burglary.
A spokeswoman said the homeowner was upstairs at 11.35am when she heard a disturbance downstairs, then saw a man - described as between 14 and 16 years old, with a dark complexion and slim build, wearing blue shorts and a red t-shirt - in her house. She shouted at him and he fled towards the A59.
Anyone who saw anything suspicious, or has information which would help police should phone 101 quoting job 169 of August 15.
