THE four-way battle for the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League title has been full of twists and turns.

That was perfectly illustrated last Saturday when fourth-placed Farsley defeated New Farnley to revive their own challenge with a win which enabled Pudsey St Lawrence to take top spot.

And with just 12 points covering the leading four teams the battle looks set to go right to the wire to see which team will be representing the league in the Yorkshire Premier League Play-off semi-finals at Scarborough on September 15.

There are two stand-out fixtures tomorrow, leaders Pudsey St Lawrence at home to Farsley and second-placed New Farnley hosting defending champions Hanging Heaton who are just two points behind them in the table.

This is a big weekend for Hanging Heaton as they also travel to Lincolnshire on Sunday to face Bracebridge in the Vitality ECB Club T20 where victory will secure them a place in the National finals on September 16.

The champions, who have already won the JW Lees T20 Cup, are still in the running for the Heavy Woollen Cup and Black Sheep Yorkshire Champions Trophy.

Tomorrow’s match at New Farnley is a dress rehearsal for the Heavy Woollen Cup final between the sides at Spen Victoria on September 2.

Hanging Heaton face a tough schedule for the remainder of the season, but they are a side that relish challenges.

They are going to have a big say in the destiny of the title as they face current leaders Pudsey St Lawrence at home next week before a final run of four games sees them play Cleckheaton at home, Methley away, Bradford & Bingley at home at Lightcliffe away.

Pudsey St Lawrence appear to have the toughest run in as they still have to play, Farsley and New Farnley at home as well as having to visit Hanging Heaton.

Farsley, who produced two fine performances to defeat New Farnley in both the league and the Priestley Cup last weekend, have been dealt a big blow with South African all-rounder Pat Kruger having to return home.

But the Red Laners have shown all season that you can never write them off.

The trip to Tofts Road on Saturday is the only one of their remaining games against a title contender, but four of their fixtures are away from home.

Bradford & Bingley, who need wins to pull clear of relegation have a key game at home to bottom team East Bierley tomorrow, while third-bottom Scholes home to Cleckheaton.
