WE very much welcome the feedback from Mr Welch (“Surgery reception is soulless, cold place”, Letters, July 25) and agree that there is a lot of work still to do, which includes improving the surgery environment.

Kimberlow Hill is a brand new facility which is still evolving. We know that we need to spend some time making the reception area a more inviting place.

A number of improvements are already being planned, including display areas where our patients can access the latest health information (including our newly launched Practice newsletter), more meaningful posters and digital signage to publicise local services.

We will be asking our new patient participation group (PPG) to tackle this as their first priority and will be inviting Mr Welch to be part of that group and share his thoughts on what we could do better to make the waiting areas more comfortable and inviting.

The first PPG meeting will be on Saturday, September 1 and if anyone wants to join this group, we would urge them to get in touch via email to admin.unityhealth@nhs.net.

We hope people will start to see a difference to both our services and surgery environment as we move forward.
