ONE afternoon recently I went with friends to see Richard III at Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre.
I had read that it was going to be performed in modern dress and times. The actors gave excellent performances, but as some one who sees Richard III as an actual man who lived in the late 1400s, the idea of him wearing a soldier’s uniform and carrying a gun and not hearing him cry ‘A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse!” was odd.
Each to his own, I suppose.
