THE letter from David Heaton (The Press, July 20) argues the National Railway Museum is looking to “disregard the local
community in its quest for further development”. He refers to the potential closing of Leeman Road to allow the museum to join up its two display halls.
As a regular visitor to the railway museum with two young grandsons, I have something much more serious to bring to your attention: the outdoor
children’s play area complete with climb-on train and slide has disappeared.
As it is usually a family event visiting the museum, I wonder how this has come about?
So maybe the NRM are “disregarding” visitors as well and not just us locals.
How can I explain this to my grandsons on my next three-monthly visit?
