YORK City eased to a 6-1 victory at Ilkeston Town tonight as their pre-season preparations came to a close.
The Minstermen received an early shock at the New Manor Ground when the hosts' Malachi Lavelle-Moore opened the scoring in the 18th minute.
However, Martin Gray's men stormed back with three goals before half-time.
Within five minutes, summer arrival Jake Wright fired home to level things up before Simon Heslop netted from the edge of the penalty area nine minutes before the break.
Within a minute, it was 3-1 when Alex Kempster converted the rebound after Jordan Burrow's initial shot was parried.
Three became four early in the second half when Wright nodded home Kempster's centre. Moments later, in the 53rd minute, Wright earned a spot-kick which Burrow slotted home for City's fifth of the night.
However, it wasn't until two minutes from time that the visitors added a sixth, with substitute Coleby Shepherd tapping the ball home at the far post to complete the evening's entertainment.
CITY: Bartlett, Griffiths, Newton, Bencherif, Tait, Penn, York, Heslop, Burrow, Wright, Kempster. Subs: Law, Parkin, Shepherd, Ferguson, Moke, Langstaff, Whitley, Parslow.
