A FIRE was started accidentally by a bird scarer.

At around 2.30pm on Wednesday, July 25, fire crews from North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue services were called to reports of a fire in the open at Coneysthorpe, near Castle Howard.

Crews found that the reported fire had been started accidentally by a bird scarer, but that the fire was found to be out on arrival.

It was the second fire caused by a bird scarer in Ryedale in one week.
