A MAN was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a crash in Scarborough.

North Yorkshire Police said it was contacted by North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service at about 11.05pm on Monday to a collision between two cars on Royal Albert Drive. It involved a blue BMW 5 Series and a blue Peugeot 307.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “Officers attended and a 24-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of being over the legal drink drive limit.”

The force added that nobody is believed to have been injured. It said the man remains in custody for questioning.

The spokesperson added: “We will not tolerate anyone who gets behind the wheel whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

“Anyone who has information about people drink or drug driving should report it to North Yorkshire Police on 101.”
