A VAN was forced open with a crow-bar in a Ryedale village.
A police appeal through the community messaging service said that between 8pm on July 18 and 8am on July 19, a Vauxhall Vivaro van was broken into in West Lutton.
Nothing was stolen due to the van being empty at the time.
The message said: "If you have seen any suspicious vehicle or people between these times, please call 101 and quote 12180131047.
"Please also take this as a warning that people are in the area and looking to break into vans.
"Take the time to empty your van of expensive equipment every night to be safe."
