A MAN was taken to hospital for treatment following an alleged assault by a small group of men in a Ryedale pub.

Police said that the incident happened at the Moors Inn in the village of Appleton-le-Moors at about 10pm on Friday, July 6.

It involved a small group of men - who are believed to be from the local area - entering the pub and assaulting "a number of customers" before leaving prior to police arrival.

Police said: "One man was treated at the scene and a second man was taken to hospital for treatment."

Police are now appealing for witnesses and information about the disturbance.

In particular, they are appealing for information about the identity of the men involved.
