A FIRE on the northern edge of the North York Moors is believed to have been caused by a campfire.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue were called to reports of a fire on the moors near Great Ayton just after 2pm yesterday (Thursday).
An 'argocat' all-terrain vehicle from Kirkbymoorside, a high-volume pump from Richmond and crews from Northallerton, Danby and Coulby Newham were all despatched to the scene.
The blaze involved approximately 1000 square metres of undergrowth on fire.
