A VILLAGE show has been heralded as “fantastic” by the organisers.

The Acklam Sports and Gymkhana Show took place on Saturday.

The show, which has been running for more than 100 years in the Ryedale village of Acklam, featured a full day of equestrian events and jumping in a range of classes.

The organisers said on social media: “What a fantastic day! Thank you so much to all that attended and all that have worked so hard to make our local show the amazing thing it is.”

Steve Wilcox, vice-chair of the committee added: "There was great participation in the children’s athletics and a good crowd remained, despite the summer rain, throughout the day, superbly entertained by three local bands: In-Transit, Malarkey and The Woolgatherers.

"The day ending, as is the tradition, with the annual sheaf-throwing competition."
