AFTER spending Christmas fighting dragons in York, actress Elizabeth-Mary Williams comes face-to-face with more giant creatures, this time dinosaurs in the city in a new show at York Theatre Royal.

She travels back to prehistoric times in Dinosaur World Live on June 13 and 14. Elizabeth discovers the giant Tyrannosaurus Rex, a Triceratops, Giraffatitan, Microraptor and Segnosaurus in this interactive show for all the family, ages three-plus.

In E Nesbit’s The Book of Dragons, the studio show at the theatre royal last December, Elizabeth and co-star Emilio Iaunucci told wild and wonderful tales about all sorts of dragons, both friendly and scary. They even encountered some of the creatures.

The Dinosaur World show includes a post-show meet and greet with the dinosaurs.

Performances are on 13 June at 1.30pm and 4.30pm and on June 14 at 10.30am and 4.30pm.

The production is part of the Little Feet Festival of Children’s Theatre, presented by York Theatre Royal and tutti frutti from June 12 to 16. The theme is parties and celebrations with shows featuring robots and puppets, plus a new musical adaptation of Michael Rosen’s Chocolate Cake from the team behind the adaptation of We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.

The theatre royal foyer is being transformed into a playful wonderland of fun with parents being invited to hold their child’s birthday party in the space.

Juliet Forster, York Theatre Royal’s associate director, said: “We take pride in making and presenting theatre for children that is as high quality as our work for adult audiences. The Little Feet Festival is a chance for families to see the best children’s theatre touring the UK.

“As usual, we will be transforming our venue into a welcoming space for families to enjoy, whether coming to see a show, take part in an activity or just to spend time in a fun and child-friendly venue in the city centre.”
