IT has been an exciting week; new projector installed, one moved, and an item finished. The change in projector is to reduce the energy consumption and also means all the projectors conform to the latest digital cinema security requirements – nothing really affecting the picture, but all are better automated.

The picture is a deal brighter in screen two, as well as screen three.

I may have given away that I was keen to see Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Well it has arrived and Caroline and I took time out of our busy schedule to watch it.

I have to say that we were

both on the edge of our seats from the start of the film right to the end.

It is, not surprisingly, brilliant as it was directed by Ron Howard, and the cast were brilliant in their parts.

The story develops from where Han is working for a female Fagin character and, even then, living on his wits.

I am not giving anything much away as it is only the start of the story.

It is credibly exciting and maintains the twists and turns even better than I had expected. Solo: A Star Wars Story is a film not to be missed.

Films - we are showing from Friday, June 1 – this is that last weekend of the half-term, of course.

Show Dogs (PG) – a good fun family film throughout.

Sherlock Gnomes (U) – not my cup of tea but entertaining in many ways and with a strong moral at the end.

Deadpool 2 (15) – a very

naughty laugh a minute film for all of the wrong reasons. Gory in the sense of a Kill Bill in parts and then also moral in its message.

Solo: A Star Wars Story (12A) – did I say that I loved it, I did oh....possibly the best Star Wars film yet.

Book Club (12A and on its release date) – a later in life ladies book club reads 50 Shades of Grey with the kind of Diane

Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen and Mary Steenburgen humour we know they can portray.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (12A TBC and on its release date of June 6) – there is much excitement about this film and much interest.

Coming soon

Ocean’s 8 (12A) previews on June 18 – this is Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett and Anne Hathaway to name but a few carrying on the heist franchise to pull off a robbery of jewellery at the annual Metropolitan Gala in New York.

Stage shows

Oscar Wilde Season Live: An Ideal Husband (12A) is our next on June 5 with some good seats still available.

The live concert called Cliff Richard Live: 60th Anniversary Tour still has the chance to get some good tickets.
