THIS year’s Beertown festival has been declared the best yet.

Hundreds of people celebrated in the sunshine at the event held at the Milton Rooms in Malton.

Organised by Brass Castle and Bad Seed breweries, Beertown showcases the best beers from the most exciting breweries in the UK and beyond.

Chris Waplington, from Bad Seed Brewery, said: “People came from far and wide to the festival; we even had four people who travelled all the way from Denver, Colorado, just to come to Beertown.

“It’s great to see the festival is getting international recognition as a must-go-to event. They even said it was best beer festival they had ever been to so we must be doing something right.

“The weather made for a perfect weekend to try some of the beers on an extensive list that took the teams at Brass Castle and Bad Seed months to put together. We had 66 beers in total, 35 keg and 31 cask beers - from hoppy pale ales to a salted caramel chocolate stout, as well as plenty of fruity beers on offer.”

Chris said the festival was also a great chance to showcase the beers from the two organising breweries.

“The local support that we have had has been fantastic. People are very proud to have such great beers made in Malton. This festival looks to turn Yorkshire’s Food Capital into a ‘Theatre of Beer’,” he said.

“With the Royal Wedding on the same weekend, there really was a festival spirit with people in fancy dress and Fantastic Faces offering face painting. We had more people through the door than ever before and a brand new layout for the festival meant that we could serve even more beers than we have done in previous years.

“There is no doubt that this was the best Beertown yet. The response from people has been incredible.

“We love what we do and it seems lots of other people do too. We can’t wait for Beertown 2019, the dates for which have just been announced as May 16 to 18.”
