A COW was rescued from the river in Old Malton on Saturday.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue services said that they were called at 12.40pm.
Specialist animal rescue crews from Malton went to the scene of the stranded beast off the A169 in Old Malton.
The three-quarter tonne cow was rescued from the river Derwent uninjured and reunited with the farmer.
Crews used swift water equipment, a boat, the farmer's tractor and manpower as part of their rescue.
