A NORTON couple have held a belated golden wedding celebration.
Harry, 71, and Christine Cawte, 70, first met at a dance in Terrington on January 4, 1965. They were married on March 16, 1968.
The couple have a daughter, Sharon, and two grandchildren, Benjamin, 23, who is currently serving in Canada with the British Army, and Jake, 16, is at All Saints School in York.
Harry was originally a mechanic and is now a long distance HGV driver and has always had keen interest in rallying and cars in general
Christine worked at Manesons then MBF, until she was forced to give up work due to ill-health. She is also a keen bingo player.
Daughter Sharon said: “The celebrations were slightly delayed due to Benjamin being in Canada, but we managed to celebrate when he had two weeks’ leave recently.”
