A DOG started a fire at a home in Brayton after turning on the hob in the kitchen while its owners were out.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire Service said two crews from Selby Fire Station arrived at the scene at about 9am this morning where a blaze had broken out in the kitchen.
Luckily smoke alarms inside the house had alerted neighbours to the fire and they dialled 999.
Two firefighters in breathing apparatus tackled the flames and managed to limit the damage.
Fortunately nobody was hurt and the homeowner's two large dogs were not injured.
