A DEBUT exhibition by young artist Jess Miller has opened at Rickshaw in The Shambles, Malton.
Having studied sciences for three years, Jess, who lives in Malton, decided to re-engage with her love of painting and ended up making a fundamental career change.
The exhibition entitled “A Thousand Colours” was actually inspired by a mess on the floor.
Jess said: “Seeing the mess I was making - and never being one to waste anything- I decided to use this excess paint to make something new.”
Now studying a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at York College, much like Leonardo da Vinci, Jess has found ways to use her scientific background to assist her artistic process.
Jess said:“Combining my paints with various conditioners and oils to alter their physical properties. the exact recipe is of course a secret – every magician has them, the result is a celebration of colour and movement.
“I hope people enjoy looking at them as much I did making them.”
The exhibition runs until Sunday, May 28. Opening hours are Monday – Saturday, 10am – 5pm.
