A BRIGHTLY-coloured visitor has paid a flying visit to the garden of some Lockton artists.

Colin and Sandra Culley, two local artists participating in the ‘Lockton Artists Open Studios’ event at the end of May, said that they had a "new source of inspiration" fly into their garden this morning.

The exotic bird, identified by the couple as a Crimson Rosella, was photographed enjoying the nuts and seeds on offer in a bird feeder.

Colin said: “Whilst it is a thrill to see such a colourful bird in our garden, we are concerned for its safety.

"These are expensive birds and this one must surely be an escapee."

Lockton, a hotspot for artists as well as birdlife, is putting on its Open Studios event from Saturday May 26 to Sunday June 3.

The village's artists will be throwing open the doors to their own private studios and work-spaces to let the public see what they do.
