A LOCAL attraction has donated more than £1,000 to Sight Support Ryedale.

Treetop High Rope Adventure, Go Ape, which is based in Dalby Forest chose the charity as their fundraising recipient for 2017.

Sight Support Ryedale, which is based in Norton, provides support and activities for visually impaired people living in Ryedale.

Go Ape staff and visitors raised £1,326 through bake sales and fundraising events such as Segway taster sessions. As well as collecting the cheque, users of the charity were also invited to experience Go Ape for themselves.

Julie Atkinson, chief officer at Sight Support, said: “Sight Support Ryedale is delighted with the fundraising efforts at Go Ape.

"We would like to thank both the staff and visitors for the donations they made. It has also been a fantastic opportunity for us to have a go on the zip wire. Go Ape’s staff have gone above and beyond to make sure that everyone has had a safe and wonderful experience.

“The money raised by Go Ape will be used to fund other activities and transport for our members.

"We are always looking to do something a bit different, along with regular social gatherings, days out and shopping trips.”

Nick Mallett, manager at Dalby Go Ape, said: “Go Ape despite being a national company firmly believe in being part of our local community. All the staff team live in the local area, so local charities are important to us as they have a positive impact on our day to day lives. It was a privilege and an honour to work with Sight Support Ryedale to raise funds. We all had an amazing day helping some of the visually impaired locals to experience the long zip wire. They truly are inspirational and definitely live by our company ethos of ‘live life adventurously’.”
