A VAN driver was stopped for doing twice the speed limit in a Ryedale village last night.
Police said in a social media post that the vehicle overtook one of their unmarked vehicles on the A170.
They went on: "It then drove through the village of Snainton, which has a 30mph limit, at over 60mph.
"Although the road was relatively quiet, this speed is grossly excessive."
The police stopped the driver for speeding - and also found that his insurance didn't cover what the vehicle was being used for.
Police added: "The driver currently has six points for previous speeding convictions.
"He was reported to court for the offences and if convicted is likely to be disqualified from driving."
