A MAN was allegedly stabbed in York city centre last night (April 18).

North Yorkshire Police said it was called just before midnight with a report that a man had been stabbed on Walmgate.

The man, who in his 30s, had suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries, for which he received treatment at York Hospital, the force added.

It also said the investigation is ongoing and that no arrests have been made.

Police cordoned off a stretch of pavement on Walmgate while forensic inquiries were carried out. The cordon has now been removed.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police commented: "We know this will be a concerning incident for residents. Officers will be conducting patrols in the area today to provide reassurance to the local community.”
