STUDENTS from Malton School are heading to one of the poorest countries in the world to work on conservation and community projects.

The 11 sixth form students needed to raise £4,000 each to take part in the CAMP's International trip to Malawi in Africa - and Malton and Norton Lions are sponsoring their travel to and from the airport for their once-in-a-lifetime mission.

Maths teacher James Muir, who is leading the trip, said: “Our community projects focus on improving the standard of living for the local people.

“The students are overwhelmed by the support we have received from Malton and Norton Lions."

Steve Sidaway, Malton and Norton Lions youth officer, said: “Malton and Norton Lions are delighted to support the students from Malton School on their amazing adventure to support some of the poorest people in the world.

"We wish them well and look forward to hearing all about the trip when they get back.”
