MP KEVIN Hollinrake has met with Yorkshire Housing chief executive Mervyn Jones at a new affordable scheme in Norton.

The new development, called Mennell Court after former Norton mayor Cllr Keith Mennell, consists of 10 flats.

Mr Hollinrake said: “These homes are a great addition to the current supply of affordable homes in Norton and I’m really pleased that they will help local people to live in a home they can afford.”

Mr Jones said: “Ryedale is particularly in need of more affordable housing and Yorkshire Housing is delighted to increase its stock in the area. This development contributes to our commitment to build 3,000 more new homes before 2020.”

The scheme was built by Transcore Ltd, at a cost of £1 million, and was partly funded by a Homes England grant. Yorkshire Housing worked with architects Bowman Riley, chartered quantity surveyors Turner and Holman and Ryedale District Council.
