THE A64 has been reopened following a four-vehicle crash this morning.

It happened on the A64 just outside York, near the Highwayman Cafe, just after 10am. The road was reopened at 11.40am.

The collision involved four vehicles: a blue Volkswagen van, a white Renault van, a black BMW car and a blue Mazda car.

A woman in the Mazda car has been airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

A police spokesperson said: "Both lanes of traffic were closed to allow an air ambulance to land, the vehicles to be recovered and the road to cleared of debris.

"All casualties breathing and conscious, but one person had to be freed from a vehicle by firefighters. 

"Witnesses to the collision asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, option, 1, and speak to the Force Control Room.
