MORRISONS in Malton was officially relaunched last week.

The store now has a number of new features, including a cake shop, pizza counter, children’s clothing and flower section.

Pupils from Norton Primary School were invited to launch and the ribbon was cut by Carol Pilmore, one of the store’s longest serving employees.

Melanie Pickering, customer service manager, said: “We asked Carol to cut the ribbon for us as before retiring last year she was one of our longest serving colleagues of 33 years.

“Carol started working for Hintons in 1984 and continued on when Presto’s took over. It then became Safeways and now as we know it today is Morrisons.”

The store has been revamped after customers were invited into the store to give their views on improvements that could be made.

Martin Hogg, newly appointed store manager, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all Morrisons staff for the great effort and hard work that they have put into making the relaunch a great success. It has been outstanding team work. I would also like to thank Ryan Swain, Cyber Man and Cat for coming along and offering their time. Special thanks to our customers for their continuous support and for their patience and understanding while the refit was being done. Without them, Morrisons in Malton wouldn’t be the store it is today. We are proud to serve our community.”
