THE 'Mini Beast from the East' will make it feel bitterly cold this weekend - and forecasters think there are two times when snow is most likely to fall in North Yorkshire.

The first is in the early hours of tomorrow morning as rain this evening gradually turns to snow at lower levels, mostly light, and so people may wake tomorrow to find a little snow lying on the ground.

The second is during tomorrow as occasional showers blow across from the east, with the greatest risk of showers in the evening. Sunday is now expected to be the drier of the two days.

Just as with the 'Beast from the East' earlier this month, when winds from Siberia caused heavy snow and deep frosts in North Yorkshire, strong easterly winds will again make it feel much colder than the 1C maximum temperature forecast for tomorrow. The wind chill may make it feel more like -6C.

Temperatures are set to rise to 2C on Sunday with slightly less strong winds, and they will rise rapidly through next week to 10C by next Thursday.
