SOPRANO Lesley Garrett will headline this year's Castle Howard Proms.

Lesley, one of the nation’s best-loved classical vocalists, will perform on stage on Saturday, August 18, alongside a 70-piece choir and the London Gala orchestra, conducted by Stephen Bell.

The musical celebration will culminate with rousing favourites for flag-waving and singing along, including Rule Britannia and Land of Hope & Glory, as thousands of lasers and fireworks light up the sky.

“Having such a magnificent spectacle take place just outside your home is a real privilege, and it is a delight for our family that we are able to host and share this event with so many people,” said Nicholas Howard.

“We’re particularly pleased to be welcoming Yorkshire’s own Lesley Garrett for this special evening.”

Mark Harrison, creative producer for LPH Concerts, said: “We’re really excited to be organizing this epic Proms concert for Castle Howard.

"We’ll be making further announcements during the forthcoming weeks, but expect to see special guests, star soloists, support acts and much more… this year’s concert promises to be the best yet and we’re all really looking forward to it.”

Castle Howard’s summer proms is a key part of Yorkshire’s event calendar, welcoming thousands of concert fans with elaborate picnics – some even featuring formal dining tables with candelabra – chairs and blankets for an unforgettable evening.

Tickets for this summer spectacular will go on sale on Friday, February 23, at 9am, from lphconcerts.co.uk
