THE organisers of this year’s Helmsley 10k are urging people to get their entries in.

The ninth annual race will take place on Easter Sunday, April 1, from 10am. The Helmsley 10k is a multi-terrain race which takes place on road, forest track, footpaths and fields. The finish line will be on the sports field as usual.

In addition to the 10k, there will be races for children with categories from the "toddler dash" up through the age groups to an event for 14-year-olds. Entrants will receive an Easter egg.

Carol Swift, of the Helmsley Recreational Charity, urged people to sign up. “Entries are coming in thick and fast,” she said.

To sign up for £15 (registered) or £17 (unregistered), go to helmsleysports.org or send entries to the Race Secretary, Stilworth House, Church Street, Helmsley, YO62 5AD or email helmsley10krun@gmail.com. Entry on the day may also be possible for £3 extra.

The race sponsors are the energy company Engie, formerly Keepmoat.

Last year’s winners of the race were Tom Charlton of the Tyne Bridge Harriers with a time of 34.26, and Becky Penty of the York Knavesmire Harriers with a time of 40.12.
