THE grand annual jumble sale at Coxwold Village Hall will take place on Saturday at 1.30pm.

The event will kick-off fundraising for the village hall committee’s ambitious plans for the building, which include a refurbished kitchen and bar, improved access, re-wiring and re-plumbing, snooker area and multi-media performance space for showing films and bands.

A spokesman for the village hall committee said: “The proceeds will go towards our exciting and ambitious plans to improve and enhance Coxwold Village Hall for today’s residents, future generations and for the locality.

“Much work has been done over the years, frequently in reaction to immediate need, but the committee who are responsible for the village hall’s upkeep now feel that the time has come to make the space fit for the 21st century.

“We are very proud of Coxwold and want to improve and enhance the facilities for all residents.”

The committee is looking to raise £150,000 with the help of fundraising events, individual donors, corporate supporters and charitable trusts.

A spokesman for the village hall committee said: “As well as regular groups for coffee mornings, soup and sandwich lunches, bridge, art, crafts and yoga, we have several larger evening events coming up. These include Rural Arts ON Tour with Plan B for Utopia on March 23, a Call My Bluff wine tasting on April 13 and an Italian evening on May 12.”
