A CAR which was hanging precariously over an embankment was winched to safety by fire services.
Fire crews were called to Mulgrave Road in Whitby at around 4pm yesterday by a member of the public.
A fire spokesperson said that the vehicle, a Vauxhall Mokka, had rolled down the street and was hanging over the embankment - under which runs a footpath.
A Whitby fire crew used their vehicle winch to remove the car from its dangerous position.
The vehicle was left with its owner.
Other call-outs yesterday included a transit van on fire on Outgang Road in Malton at around 5pm.
Malton fire crews attended the blaze, extinguishing the fire using one hose reel jet and breathing apparatus.
And earlier in the day, at around 2.40pm, crews from Easingwold and Thirsk attended a small tractor on fire between Easingwold Bypass and New Road, Easingwold.
The tractor was inside a barn, with the cause of the fire believed to be an electrical fault in the engine.
The owner of the vehicle used four fire extinguishers before fire services arrived; however the engine was still smouldering so crews dampened it down with a hose reel.
There was no damage to the barn, fire services added.
