DRIVERS have been urged to avoid a section of the A64 this evening as a fire is expected to cause traffic problems.
North Yorkshire Police said firefighters had called them to the A64 at Hopgrove roundabout at about 4.30pm.
A spokeswoman said the fire was large, and confined to a local business, but there was "no immediate threat to anybody".
She said there was a likelihood part of the road could be closed as a result of the fire, and urged motorists to expect delays and avoid the area if possible.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service posted the following Tweet about the incident.
Crews from York, Huntington, Acomb, Malton, Tadcaster, Malton and Harrogate - 6 fire appliances, one aerial ladder platform and one water bowser dealing with a fire at an industrial premises just outside #stocktonontheforest next to the A64. Crews may be there for some time.
