A WOMAN who obstructed a road in Kirby Misperton - then failed to attend court - has been sentenced.

Sarah Jane Currie, 31, of Sunnyside, Liverpool, pleaded guilty to obstructing Habton Road on October 19.

She also admitted failing to attend court after she was released on bail.

Currie was arrested after lying down in the middle of the road on the morning of Thursday, October 19, with her arm locked into a concrete and metal device.

She was cut out by police officers with specialist equipment.

Currie was charged, but failed to attend court in York on November 30.

A warrant was issued, and she was arrested in Liverpool on December 6.

The next day, at York Magistrates Court, she received a conditional discharge and a £50 fine, and was ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £30 surcharge to fund victim services.
