THE partner of a York doctor killed in a collision with a car has paid tribute to “the most wonderful human being I have ever met”.

Dr Alex Boorman, 27, from Thirsk, had his “bright future” at York Hospital cut short when he was killed while riding his motorcycle on the A19 Easingwold Bypass last Thursday.

His partner Alex Bellard said: “My world is broken. He made my life complete and I can't even comprehend a future without him. I will always, always love you AJ Boorman.”

A 22-year-old man, who was driving the Vauxhall Viva, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drug driving.

Dr Boorman trained at The University of Edinburgh Medical School and worked at York Hospital. A spokesperson for the hospital said tributes were being prepared.

He also played rugby for Richmondshire RUFC 2nds, and a post on the club’s Facebook page on Sunday said: “Today we paid tribute to a valued 2nd team player, who has only been part of our club for a short time but made a huge impact on and off the pitch to us all.

“Such a waste of life. A great young man with a bright future as a doctor ahead of him. He will be greatly missed. The club send our condolences to his family. RIP AJ.”

Bishop Auckland RUFC and Hartlepool RUFC also shared their condolences on social media.

The arrested man, who was taken to hospital with minor injuries, has been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

The two passengers in the car were a 22-year-old who was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by air ambulance and a 17-year-old woman who was taken to York Hospital by road ambulance. Both had serious but non life-threatening injuries.

Police investigations into the incident are continuing and anyone who saw the crash or either vehicle prior to the collision, should contact police on 101, press two and ask to speak to TC Hamish Halloway.
