A MAN has been taken to hospital after a serious accident on the A64.
The crash took place between Whitwell-on-the-Hill and Malton, near Crambeck village.
It involved a white van and a lorry tanker.
A police spokesperson said: "Police were contacted by the ambulance service at 2.53pm to reports of a collision between an car and a Mercedes tanker on the A64.
"The road west bound from the A169 slip road at Malton was closed at the junction of Crambeck Village.
"A man has been taken by air ambulance to James Cook hospital with chest and abdominal injuries which are not thought to be life threatening."

Highways England staff also attended the scene to clean up a fuel spillage.
