FUNDRAISERS across Ryedale have taken part in the annual Children in Need appeal.

Pupils at Norton College organised in a series of events over last week, including leg waxing, students versus teachers events and stalls organised by the sixth form senior students.

Head teacher Phil Loftus also got a dunking after £1,623.62 was raised - beating the target of £1,500.

At Malton School Pudsey buns and cakes were on sale, as well as a staff versus students football match. Form groups also organised their own events.

The Breeze Pickering ladies cycling group rode a virtual coast to coast ride on a static bike with a relay team of eight ladies completing 155 miles in eight hours, raising £927.46.

A spokesman said: “Thanks to everyone who gave so generously; the guys from Big Bear Bikes who supplied the bike, let us use the area outside their shop and, of course, the ladies who rode, Liz Cooper, Linda Palmer, Mary Lloyd, Helen Herring, Angela Dawson, Sarah Herbert, Kay Halliwell and Jill Magee.”
