FIRE crews attended a chimney fire incident in a Ryedale village earlier this morning.
Crews from Malton and Pickering stations were called to an address in Great Habton at 7.58am, after a member of the public alerted the home owner.
When the crews arrived, the chimney was "well alight".
Crews used a ladder to access the roof and remove a damaged chimney pot.
They were then able to extinguish the fire from the roof using a hose reel jet.
The crew made the area safe by removing some extracting shards and gave advice to the owners before leaving.
