NORTON College’s annual two day theatre trip to London is now in its fifth year and remains as popular as ever, with 44 students in years 10, 12 and 13 heading off for the bright lights of the capital.

The itinerary included two evening West End theatre shows - Disney’s Aladdin and School of Rock - The Musical, a tour of Shakespeare’s Globe and a Warner Studios Harry Potter tour, a walk round the Tate Gallery and a workshop with the cast members of Aladdin.

There was also the opportunity for students to enjoy some free time in Covent Garden and dinner at Planet Hollywood.

The trip is particularly appealing to students studying Expressive Arts subjects at GCSE and at BTEC and A Level in the sixth form.

Niamh Colgan, Year 10, said: “The shows were great. School of Rock was very funny and the children in it, intimidatingly good and seeing Westminster Abbey was also a highpoint, as I have never seen it before.”

Bernie Halkyard, Associate Leader of Expressive Arts, said: “There is no doubting that this is a fantastic theatre trip, packed full of amazing and unique experiences that the students find unforgettable.

"There’s glitz, glamour, magic, but also culture and history. It expands their cultural literacy and their knowledge of the creative arts that many of our students plan to build careers in.”
